Slow-Ea-Po

Slow-Ea-Po

........And it was totally my fault!! Who knows what in the world I was thinking doing a craft show at a bar this past Saturday night?! Perhaps the visions of super nummy cocktails coupled with the idea of rock surging through out my bones clouded my brain.

I sell jewelry and hair accessories that appeal mostly to children and teens, not rocker queens. Both of the items that I sold were in the first hour of the show (thank you Heather (My Red Gumball) and kind stranger lady!!!).

Thankfully Trish (Felt Up Tees) came to visit, yap, drink and eat some bar fries with me. I was also lucky to be in between two other local Etsians, Adrienne (Mmm....Fiber whom I traveled to New York with last year for the PDX Etsy trunk show) and Paula (Paula Deer) who I'd never had the chance to meet before (super nice).
Later in the evening the music started rockin' and the crowd became full of energy, amongst other things. I got to see a bass made out of a suitcase, yes ladies and gentlemen, a suitcase. I also got to see a drummer do some fancy baton like twirlin' action with his stick between beats and experienced my first burlesque troupe.
I was happy for the entertainment and if anything the event totally got me out of the house, and that my friends is a feat within itself!!

I Heart Relate Magazine.....

Because Relate Magazine Hearts Me!!!

About a month ago I was contacted by Relate Magazine, an online publication geared toward teens. They wanted to do a feature on my children's line Little Daisy Chains. I was ecstatic. I sent in a few samples and I nervously awaited a reaction. They loved them!! We did an interview and here is what came of it.

I'm super excited and had to share! Hope you like it!!

Picture Day, Oh The Memories!!

Ode To Picture Day!!
I don't know what it is exactly about picture day, but I'll never forget it. Every year the same routine. Standing in a line watching each classmate in front of you take their turn. Most of them forcing a smile or just not smiling at all, just staring daring the camera to make them. All of the fidgeting in line, the mixture of boredom and nervousness hoping that this year’s picture didn't suck as much as the last.

As I awkwardly grew up my pictures seemed to get worse year by year. Some years my super straight hair was forced into curls they wanted no part of by parents obsessed with the "perfect" picture. Crazy bangs, crooked smiles or blinking eyes. I just couldn't seem to win.

My kiddo’s picture day is Monday and thankfully they've missed out on the curse of picture land. Could it be because I'm a Mom and just think they're cute or do they feel the same way about theirs that I did mine??

To skip out on the horror of sharing with you what were my picture days I decided to finally check out a site I found out about on WhiMSy love's blog a while back called year book yourself and fashioned one of my own. What do you look like? Go See!!!

Queen of the Quirk

quirk
(kwûrk)

1. A peculiarity of behavior; an idiosyncrasy: "Every man had his own quirks and twists" Harriet Beecher Stowe.
2. An unpredictable or unaccountable act or event; a vagary: a quirk of fate.
3. A sudden sharp turn or twist.
4. An equivocation; a quibble.
5. Architecture A lengthwise groove on a molding between the convex upper part and the soffit.

[Origin unknown.]
quirki·ly adv.
quirki·ness n.
quirky adj.

I've been tagged by Miss WhiMSy love to list 6 quirky things about myself, this should be easy, embarrassing, but easy!!
1. I can do the thumbs up gesture with both my hands and my feet.

2. In 4th grade a group of about 5-6 friends and I formed a jump rope team where we would make up tricks along to a play list of very cool songs. We would practice at recess. We asked the Principal if we could perform in front of the whole school (grades K-5th) and she said yes. We did. It was very Napoleon Dynamite-esque, geek goes cool goes geek again. I still have my jump rope in a box in the garage.

(Not Me, But Yes Ladies and Gentleman I Could Do This)

3. I took tap in middle school. I randomly will break out some moves in the kitchen or dining room when I'm feeling silly and/or happy. I must be happier than I realize because my daughter now taps away while we are in stores, at school or at home.

4. I communicate much better in writing than in person or by phone.

5. Until just recently when ever crossing a bridge I would roll down the window so that if I were to end up in the water below I could swim out and survive. Apparently the blow of hitting the water would have no affect on me.....

6. To go into a store or any public place alone I have to have a fresh piece of gum to pop in my mouth or I won't go. If you ever need gum let me know, I'll have it.

Off to go tag;

1. Trish of Felt Up Tees
2. Sarah of Urban Designs
3. Jennifer of Punky Kidz/Urban Designs
4. Lea of LeaK Arts
5. Ryan of Littleput Books
6. Danielle of Poetic Purl

Stone Temple Pilots And A Nikki Chick

Can You See Just What Mik Wants?

The Stone Temple Pilots!

Mik and I are packing our bags and headed on over to Spokane's Knitting Factory to enjoy the sound of my husband's favorite person ever.

Scott Weiland

We missed them at Bumbershoot due to a doink in timing so we're catching him in Washington. Mik is completely thrilled that STP has decided to reunite for a few more shows and I'll have to say it's kind of hard not to catch all of the excitement, even if I am the only one of us that has moved on from the 90's.

AND.........................................................

Since we'll be in the "area" Mik and I will be stopping off for another Etsy BFF meet and greet, hubbies and all!!

I can't wait! See you Sunday Nik, Nik the in Washington chick!!
